Achilles injections show no meaningful benefit over sham treatment

A BMJ randomized trial found that high-volume injections for midportion Achilles tendinopathy, with or without corticosteroid, did not meaningfully improve pain or disability compared with sham treatment at 12 months. The findings challenge routine use of these injections and emphasize exercise-based care plus clearer patient counseling.
